**WHAT’S NEXT?**
By Tom Stein
This Sunday, Lord willing, we will begin a series of sermons on the book of Revelation.
This is a challenging book! Why study it?
Because Jesus reigns, and we need to be encouraged to remain faithful to him, and hopeful in him.
We live in a post 9-11 world of worry and fear. We have the whole world on our computers. In this presidential election year, we are even more aware of the world around us, and the concerns and crises we face.
Personally, we all wrestle with challenges that test our faith and totter our hope.
Revelation is an “uncovering” of the unseen struggles that grip our world and our hearts. Think of it as an extended explanation of Ephesians 6:12:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
John wrote to give courage to his readers of yesterday and today. Jesus will win the battle! We need to know this.
Of course, knowing this does not mean we will understand every detail of this book. My goal is not controversy, but courage. We will not answer each and every question you have ever had about Revelation.
But, by God’s grace, we will grow stronger in faith, hope and love, as we see and sense the glories of Jesus in this book.
